QU, The University of Newcastle to strengthen collaboration in the field of research

Qatar University (QU) and The University of Newcastle – Australia signed on February 11 a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen their collaboration and cooperate on the design and development of advanced materials for energy and environmental applications.

The MoU was signed by QU VP for Research and Graduate Studies Prof Mariam Al Maadeed and The University of Newcastle – Australia Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) Prof Kevin Hall in the presence of officials from both institutions.

The terms of the MoU include collaboration between QU and The University of Newcastle – Australia on the exchange of researchers or students, as well as information through joint seminars and publications. Both institutions will also collaborate to implement cooperative research.

Other areas of collaboration include joint supervision of graduate students and the establishment of joint research proposals.

Commenting on the MoU, Prof Mariam Al Maadeed said: “The collaboration between both universities was previously established in field of research, and we are happy to strengthen our relationship with The University of Newcastle – Australia through a MoU for long-term cooperation.”

Prof Kevin Hall said: “The University of Newcastle and Qatar University share a DNA that will take the partnership into better fields.”
