Prince of Songkla University held a signing ceremony of Memorandum of Agreement on academic cooperation with Allianz College of Medical Sciences (ACMS), Malaysia on Thursday, April 29, 2010 in order to develop cooperation in producing experts in medicine, education and professionalism. His Royal Highness Crown Prince D.Y.T.M. Tuanku Syed Faisuddin of Perlis and his consort witnessed the signing ceremony. After that they visited Faculty of Nursing and Faculty of Medicine’s Songklanagarind Hospital the Pediatric Ward.
The relationship of the two universities began when the first MOU was signed in 2002; therefore the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement this time is for the development of academic cooperation of mutual interest which includes staff exchange, joint seminars and research and others contributing to sustainable friendship and upgrading academic knowledge leading to more innovations for the benefit of staff and students of the two institutions.
Prince of Songkla University offers health science programs of study through six faculties: Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Thai Traditional Medicine, and Faculty of Medical Technology with four of them offering doctoral degree programs. This indicates academic strength and competence of their personnel, especially in nursing and epidemiology in which the number of international students increases every year. There are a number of students from Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos, Viet Nam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Nepal, India and China. Alumni of the programs are known to have used their knowledge to help develop public health in their respective countries.
