SYMPOSIUM ON ICT FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT 2006

This symposium is thus aimed at providing a platform for sharing experiences in the effective use of ICTs in bridging the digital divide. This symposium will also highlight the potential usage of innovative and affordable ICTs in bringing about sustainable progress & advancement in the development of rural communities.

Objectives

* To bring together researchers and practitioners in the area of ICT for rural development from within and outside Malaysia to promote sharing of experiences and collaboration.

* To plan, encourage and implement programmes and research activities to determine the most appropriate, beneficial and sustainable technology for the development of ICT for rural development infrastructure.

* To increase awareness and interest in private industries about the importance and necessity of such developments and to encourage their participation in bridging the digital divide.
